與往年一樣，鹿特丹電影節今年（2007年）也集中了一批真正有想法、有創造力，在商業院線絕對看不到的別緻新穎的電影，鹿特丹電影節今年的開幕影片是一部阿根廷電影《天線》，這是一部獲得鹿特丹電影基金贊助的電影。它的全球首映選在鹿特丹電影節，多少有些「匯報演出」的意思。 《天線》是一部非常美麗的黑白電影，它講述了一個發生在現代的童話故事，一座被電視台控制的城市，人們都在它的控制下丟失了自己的聲音，只有一個天生雙目失明的小男孩依然擁有自己的聲音。電影節組委會認為，這部電影探究了媒體和電視的力量。鹿特丹電影節專門有一個環節叫觀眾評分，每個觀眾進電影院的時候都會得到一張表，表上設立5個分數欄，觀眾在看完電影後在相應分數欄打分。《天線》的評分是4.16，位居第24。

Dreamy animated images in detailed henna painting and atmospheric watercolours dominate a young Spanish artist’s moving journey of discovery. In a small bookshop in India, Inés comes across the feminist-utopian science fiction story “Sultana’s Dream.” It is about the terrible revenge on men, the bookseller explains. In the slim volume she wrote in 1905, Rokeya Hossain describes the fantasy realm of Ladyland – a land in which women are self-determined and live in peace, in which they run all government affairs and all forms of education are open to them. And the men? Their place in Ladyland, the bookseller continues, is where they belong: locked up at home. Fascinated by the literary “painting” of this place and its inventor, Inés sets out in the footsteps of the writer and teacher Hossain, who championed education and equal rights for Indian girls and women as early as the beginning of the 20th century. The trip takes the Spaniard across contemporary India. Liv og Terjes heisatur av et ekteskap blir observert fra sidelinja av Diana, helt fra hun er baby til hun flytter hjemmefra. Alt hun kan se er verdens verste foreldre som på ingen måte gjør så godt de kan. Når det så 30 år senere skal stå enda et bryllup, og det er Diana som skal gifte seg på et gods i Sverige, står nervene i høyspenn. Og verre skal det bli.

Her cast is entirely composed of first-time actors who convincingly convey how unique every individual is, both in how they see the world and how they relate to others. Ziyin Zheng in the role of An graciously embodies a mix of idiosyncrasy and frankness that makes them an ideal confidante for Star (Sarah Walker). They have what it takes to be on the receiving end of the scrutinising gaze of Star, who sees through conventions and never ceases to be amazed at life’s bewildering events. Veering on slapstick, Walker’s performance will not go unnoticed.

The film recounts the simple progress of their romance after they go home together. If the tale is not unusual, the telling is superb. The characters are sharply observed, with a strong sense of social context. Machaty's first talkie is a masterpiece of sophisticated early sound cinema. And the film's credits-Czech jazz founder Jezek, Surrealist poet Nezval, experimental filmmaker Hammid-provide ample proof that in pre-war Czechoslovakia, the avant-garde made significant contributions to mainstream production.
